Indian Fashion Trends to Try Today (2019)

Here are five Indian fashion trends worth trying! 


Indian clothing is known for its dramatic colors and silhouettes, but there has been a recent trend towards minimalist clothing. Particularly, lehengas with no chunni are in vogue. As are designs and patterns that are printed on to the garment as opposed to embroidered. It gives the Indian clothing a bit more of an everyday feel but that doesn't mean they aren't fancy enough for weddings!

Straight Silhouettes

Indian outfits tend to be fit and flare or a-line. Borrowing from western influences, straighter silhouettes are influencing fashion. This could be anything from the pencil skirt style to the pantsuit look.

Large Earrings

Statement earrings have been popular for a couple of years now, and they are still going strong! Whether you try out Indian styles like the Jhumka, or more western tassel earrings, if you’re going to pick something to go big on, pick earrings!


Heirlooms (Vintage)

Just like you might wear your grandma’s pearls, 2019 has seen a rise in heirloom Indian clothing and jewelry. Styles like Banarasi shawls and silk sarees from 40 years ago are all the rage. You grandmothers heavy gold Jewelry from the 1960s is in too! In order to avoid looking like you’re attending an event in costume, mix some heirloom pieces with some more modern ones.

Before you wince at the thought of  feathers, hear us out. Adding feathers to the sleeves of your lehenga blouse can be a fun fashion risk to try out this season. Feathered fashion has appeared on Indian runways, and you can dictate exactly how far you want to go. You’ll look chic and glamorous, and renting is a great option here because who knows if feathers will be in in 2 years?
